Obfuscate

Vampires usually dwell in the shadows of the night, but some kindred take it a step further. This discipline has the ability to hide the vampire's presence from the outside world. It's not true invisibility, but people simply don't notice the character's presence as long as they don't draw attention to themselves. Higher levels give access to more advanced forms of camouflage, or even the ability to hide multiple people. Unless otherwise specified, obfuscate does not work on electronic equipment if the person monitoring it is outside the reach of the discipline. Surveillance cameras and photographs still show the character's presence.

Level 1

Cloak of shadows

In its most basic form, the character can blend into its surroundings. As long as they have something to hide behind, are quiet and do not draw attention to themselves, no ordinary senses can detect the person.

Cost: None

System: The player places themselves in a corner or a dark place and puts one hand on their shoulder with one finger extended. As long as they are silent and do not move, they cannot be seen by those around them. This ability cannot be activated while the character is being observed.

Level 2

Unseen passage

The character can now extend their power to the point where they can move around unseen by normal senses as long as they don't draw attention to themselves.

Touch of shadows

With this power, the vampire can hide small objects without anyone finding them. This opens up possibilities for everything from smuggling minor weapons onto Elysium to hiding a stolen item that won't be seen even though it's sticking out of your pocket.

Cost: Hunger +1

System: Works like the previous level except the character holds up two fingers and can now also move around without breaking invisibility. The ability still cannot be activated while observing.

Cost: Hunger +1

System: The object to be hidden must not be larger than it can be held in one hand, for example a sword, a book, a purse or the like. The player ties a red ribbon around the item to mark that the power is activated. As long as the item is on the character's person, it is impossible to detect. Should the object attract attention, for example if a hidden weapon is used in battle, or is separated from the character for more than five minutes, the effect wears off. The only exception is if someone is specifically looking for that particular item. It is not enough to look for something general like "a book" or "a sword", but it needs to be the specific book or sword that the character is carrying.

Example: The Keeper of Elysium looks for a weapon in the character's bag, but finds none because they don't know exactly which weapon they are looking for. If instead they were to look for that particular dagger with a red leather handle engraved with the character's sire's name, they would find the weapon in the bag.

Level 3

Cloak the Gathering

The character can at this level hide other people besides themselves, whether the subject themselves are capable of it or not. The power is less stable and more short-lived, but is sufficient to smuggle smaller groups of people.

Cost: Hunger +1

System: The character can hide one additional person besides themselves, plus one more for every fifth level in the MV. The player touches those to be affected and says "cloak the gathering". Affected players can act during "Unseen passage" at a level one lower than the player who activated the power. The effect only lasts for a quarter of an hour or until the effect wears off. The people affected must be within three meters of the player who used the power. If they go outside that area, the effect is automatically interrupted.
